According to Reuters on April 13, the U.S. began blocking ships entering and leaving Iranian ports after talks stalled, and follow-up Reuters coverage on April 19 said uncertainty around the strait was still hanging over negotiations. Roughly one-fifth of global oil moves through Hormuz, so the blockade lands directly on energy flows, shipping costs, and insurance markets.
